Kinetic - East Coast Backcountry

Klementovichphoto.com

Everyone loves to talk about how good the skiing is "Out West", sure us Eastcoasters have our fair share of bulletproof ice, or "packed Powder" really packed. Well if you get off the lift service areas and do some hiking or skinning into the off-off-piste there is plenty of huge stashes to plunder, if you're early. I can't caption this image, I can only tell you that it's Jeff Lougee (in a sky blue, or powder blue helmet)somewhere in New Hampshire...

Kinetic - Approaches

Klementovichphoto.com

It's hard to believe that all water, even moving water doesn't freeze when it's this cold. Most of the Swift river had frozen, at least enough to save us a mile or so of walking to get to one of New Hampshire's finest ice climbs "A Way in the Wilderness". Its amazing what people will do just to reduce the time spent approaching a climb??

Artisan - The making of a book

Klementovichphoto.com

At the end of a long gravel road, snuggly settled in a mountain valley, Jean Hurley folds, cuts, stitches and creates amazing books. Not New York Times Best Sellers, but art, the contents are secondary to the elaborate folds, papers and colors that Jean uses in her art. We sipped coffee and flipped through the shelves of books spending more time enjoying old photos, and books than getting any work done.
